Fortunately, I have no relatives nearby to get into this issue. But I have referred mine to good professionals in the past.

I'm here and they all know I'm in real estate. Several live very far away from me and will use a local agent which I'm totally 100% fine with.

Yes and Yes.  I work with relatives, whom I love, but it's never the same as with clients.  

William Feela - lucky that most my relatives are in India - so I have to work with friends and extended family - which is perfect, as long as the trust relationship is there.

William, I aboslutely work with relatives.  They are an important part of my sphere of influence.  I'm lucky to have a huge, extended family in the area.

It does depend on the relative. I referred my dad to an agent for the sale of my grandma's house. He's calling me almost everyday with questions. Sometimes I can help him, but I also have to tell him to call his agent...that's why I found that person for him to work with. I can't wait until this transaction closes. But I also like helping out my father. This is difficult for him. He grew up in that house. 

I represented my son when he bought a small commercial property this winter- I took the full commission - but I felt guilty about not giving it back to him!

I worked with family and I thought it never was a good fit. There was always a weak link that brought discontent and poor morale

It totally depends upon the relative.  Some I would with in a heartbeat, others it would be best to refer out.

Yes I work with family and don't have any issue with it. I would rather have them in my hands than be at the mercy of an agent I don't know or trust.

Those times I have tried to work with family, it's been difficult. I honestly don't recommend it.

Yes, but sometimes it can be a pain, especially when relatives think they know everything about real estate.
