Great question, Douglas. I usually pay more for marketing luxury homes and would probably choose a video and photo package for those. As for price I consider the expense of all of the photography not just the aerial. $2,000 for a multi-million-dollar property would not be too much for superior work. I don't think I will hire a drone photographer for lower priced homes unless the property has features best highlighted from the air and the cost is under $500.

Our prices from several reputable vendors here are a small fraction of these costs, not sure how they can do it for the prices they charge.

I think, it depends on the location and the skills of a photographer. You definitely have CA prices and a solid experience:)

A newer photographer will most likely offer a better deal(yet,  it can be risky if you have a posh property).

Douglas Trudeau - there are easier ways to substitute drone photography - like pole photography!

I am not the one who'd pay thousands of dollars for drone!

Now about $500? May be, I'll think over it.

Douglas,

Again it is based on the market place.  Here in Santa Barbara, photographers charge a flat fee, ranging from $750 to $1500, depending on the size of home.  Most of our clients have professional photography done for ALL their properties regardless of price.  In Florida one of our compnay clients pays $500 for photos, and the photographer has their whole accounts.  You own the photos in each case.

Videos can be well done by the local video school.  Both in LA and here there are colleges where students are willing to do videos and edit them beautifully.  I have seen great results.  On the subject of the drone, one of the photographers here has a pilot who is savvy with drones, and he does comply with FAA rules and regs.  Those who have done it themselves, have broken windown, electrical wires, etc and made a lot of people, mad.  A

Annette, kinda rude response. I am not trying to manipulate a response. The price ranges given are the ranges for this area where I can operate per FAA restrictions. It is what it is. In Florida and California where home prices could be much higher, Agents may respond with higher prices. In other parts of the US homes may be much less, where those Agents would be willing to pay a lower price for similar service. What I am looking for is a happy medium. Demand is guiding me from exclusive service as the only Listing Agent who can offer this level of service, since I am the only Agent with a Section 333 Exemption to legally conduct aerial video/photography, to possibly making it available to other Agents. Before making that decision, I'd like to hear from my peers throughout the US before makng a decision. $2,000 to me seems to high, $395 too low (esepecially considering all the work related to such services and production).

"How much are photos and videos worth?"

That's a good question, however your attempt to manipulate the response hopefully will not work, It matters not what it costs a REALTOR to stay in business just like it matter not what you are required to do to get an ariel photo. This is the business we choose to be in and that means willing paying the required fees.

My suggestion to you is to ABANDON the $$$ for time mindset you currently are showing. Even your attempt to justify your cost with the value of the home is misguided.

Would I pay $5,000 for a highly produced video? Yes. However, it must be evergreen. EVERGREEB is where the value lies and will distinguish the produce/service you provide. However, you will need the production skill and vision to pull it off.

Would I pay $5,000 for a home tour of a $5,000,000 house. Not in this lifetime.
