I was also contacted by them and at first I also thought it was because of my outstanding record but upon further investigation, I realized they are selling you a marketing product. They will interview you, and "if" you are chosen for their magazine, which of course you will be if you pay, they will do a write up about you and use pictures that you provide at your own cost. They will make you your own magazine to show your clients and send you a pdf for use in all your marketing sites. They want $395 up front before they do the work and assure you that they won't print it until you agree to it. So basically it is a gimmick that they use to make you marketing material. I was actually going to do it, my objection was to paying upfront.

They will ask to be paid for the article once you've been interviewed and it's not a small amount.

I think a lot of agents get this email and its another tool in your marketing wheelhouse. People search and hopefully this will pop up..They write a nice article and you pay them for it. Its a business. Consider it an ad and an expense if you want it.

I was contacted about this as well. I'm so glad I check this thread first. I had another contact from a different company that had voted me one of the top Realtors in the Dallas Ft Worth Metro-Plex. They wanted $395 to send me a plaque that said that. I declined that as well. I may or may not be all that but I don't need a $400 plaque to validate.

Suzanne McLaughlin - speaking of no negative reviews, I was looking into another social media company and in their contract they stated that you were not allowed to post anything bad about them online. (I forget exactly how they had it worded) If you did you were subject to a $10k fine. There was NOTHING negative about them online. I received an email 2 hours ago from Top Agent Magazine as well.

You won't find any negatives on a Google search, but if they start asking for money, I would run.

it is advertising guys....you dont get selected for you "qualities" as an agent...there have been way too many that are brand new agents and dont have the business yet that have been featured. There is a cost ...seems like they wanted 395.00 for a one page article...if you need the adverstising then I would go for it...wish that they would find another title though...it is very decieving to the public to say someone is a TOP AGENT when they dont even have their first sale...or havent been in the business a year yet...or better yet I have seen someone that is part time....lenders are offered the same deal as top Lender...that was how I found out about it the firtst time....

They contacte me as well. I have spoked to a few agents that have been featured in it to get their take. Im told by all of them that You have to look at it as a marketing piece. It costs money, but they will do a nice article on your behalf and then you can use that for your marketing online and in person. They would show clients and also when people would research the agents online, they could see the article as well. So they felt that it was a benefit. If you are not willing to invest into that type of marketing for yourself, then it might not be worth it.

I have not seen this magazine and if it was free, with no financial investment then why not?

Flint, I wouldn't be surprised if you called them back that the point to the interview is that you will be in the magazine and then you will be charged to have them send it out to your client base with a minimum number expected.

Their homepage cycles quote after quote by agents about how great a marketing tool it is to be listed.
I know nothing of their company other than looking at their website but I am curious if they ask for money from their honorees and how they make their money in general.

Gee, I got one of those, too. And here I thought it was all my ActiveRain points that got their attention!

I got the same thing, i deleted it though. I would be interested in what you find out, such as if there is a cost. Please share when you do.

Based on this Active Rain article, I would do it immediately.
Or you can call the agent who was featured to get a direct response.
