John,
Just because an agent is part of your brand, does not qualify them as a good referral. You are lucky to have 2 or 3 in the same area. I have very few I would refer friends and others too. It is my integrity on the line. A

Depends on who I know in the area, KW does make it easy to send the referrals, but often I know the long distance people from AR better.

Good morning John. I gave over 100 referrals to Realtors in 2014, will only give the client one name, the same goes for any other business. Giving multiple referrals will just confuse the client.

First I query my data base for reciprocity/first look agents. Those who are skilled, problem solvers and willing to play ball are tier number 1.
then qualification process with the BRAND. There are no newbies at REMAX.
Who within REMAX has other things in common with me?
Have I done business with them before?
What has been my engagement with them?
Get the agent on the phone. They don't answer....DELETE.
Ask the question,,,if they pick 1, disqualify, if they pick 2, send form.
Or, call the REMAX broker in the area and go with this recommendation.

I will call the agent in question and interview them. Then if I feel they're a good fit, that's my choice.

Some Buyers/Sellers say...give me a few to choose from....and others will say...who is the best person to....and we do the interviewing for them knowing them and how they like to work, personality, etc.

Depending on the situation, I might do all of the above. But I try to not confuse people with choices. I try to preselect who I think is the right person for them and if they feel not right with that person I tell them I have back ups. But I am not 100% committed to my brand. I might start there, but I am committed to finding the right agent not a branded agent.

If I know the agent well I usually offer just that one name and tell my client to interview him/her, then let me know if they want another one or two suggestions.

John Novak - the first choice is someone who I know personally. The next one - my Brian Buffini referral group, then ActiveRain and then KW.
Now if someone is a combination of more than one, they get priority for sure.

I am an independent brokerage and look for the one I feel is best represented and active in social media.

I use AR as my major resource to send out referrals. As a matter of fact that is why I joined AR so many years ago. Now I know agents all over the country. I live in an extremely rural area, but in the last two years, I've been able to send out three referrals, successfully, because of my connections on AR.

We have our own brand, so we give referrals to the agents that would do the best job for my client. That includes several different brands.

Hi John -- I don't necessarily stay within my brand but choose the person(just one) that I think will be best possible match. I have referred some agents multiple clients over the years. I've referred clients within my brand but I've found others on ActiveRain and personal recommendations of agents I respect.
As Alexandra Ron & Alexandra Seigel commented, it's our reputation too and that's a part of my value to my clients.

I do the research through AR and CRS and select a couple and reach out to talk with them. I get a feel from the conversations and narrow it down to one. My clients want me to be their guide and select the one for them.

I like to use CRS, ActiveRain, and also google to see if a web site comes up.

Honestly, it depends on whether I know the person asking for a referral or not. If I know someone personally in another city, I will send to just that one person. If I have no direct knowledge, I will generally offer 2-3 options based on reviews.
