Not as often as I should. I try to drive by when I am in the area on other business.

I let the agent know if I see one that has fallen down or is not straight.

When I was an agent I tried to keep track of my signs and keep them looking good - but that isn't common practice around here. There was a house a mile down the road from me that had a sign hanging upside down on the side of the garage for about half a year - in spite of the fact that I saw the listing agent there with potential buyers a couple of times.
Of course the tenants didn't bother to fix it.

Frank, at least once a week but more often if there's been one of our infamous storms.

Frank, I personally think that it's wonderful that you would do this (straighten the signs) for other agents and that they should be grateful!! I don't understand -- many have commented "call the other agent to ask them or to let them know . . . or let the homeowner do this unless it's a vacant listing!!" Are you serious? Why would anyone need this protocol? I would call them, but I would be letting them know that I already did this for them. Educate me on this!!! I straighten signs all of the time when I'm out in the community with my staging activity. I figured this is just the nice thing to do and to follow The Golden Rule!

Ask the seller upfront if they are willing to help with this, why would they say no, unless the property is vacant

Cyndi, I understand and feel what your saying. I list and sell in a large area. As far as Baton Rouge. A little over a 100 miles. I do travel up there once a week to check on those listing and depend on the Seller to help with the yard sign. Thanks for checking in.

Wow! I am amazed at reading these answers. We are in a very rural area and our two most distant listings are over 100 miles apart!!! I cannot imagine having to drive around and check the signs. Another sure sign that real estate is different in urban areas vs. rural.

I try to do this every week. I will also check on the signs of other agents in my office when I pass them. It's just a nice thing to do, and keeping the signs up and straight looks good for the company, too.

Depending on their location, every few days, if I am not already showing them.

If I am in the area or close by I will check the sign. I also like to check to see if there are plenty of feature sheets. To answer you about every couple of weeks or so.

I agree with calling the Agent. The specific case at hand is a house that I pass everyday. I spoke with the Agent she did not seem to happy that I called her. She states the owner will straighten. Now I understand if our weather was bad. Here in New Orleans its cold today but over the last weekend we were close to 80 degrees. All sign's should be straight and ready to go.
Thanks to everyone for answering.

For my listings that are occupied...I ask the seller to watch the signs and please straighten them if needed. If they are not able to do that, please call me. Otherwise, in my travels I try and make side trips that will put me past the other lisitngs and then do what is needed.

At least once a week is good and it's usually the day after the landscapers do their thing. I will ask the owners about the scheduling there ahead of time. Keeping it simple Frank Rubi !

It depends on the weather for me. Blizzards, high winds, snowplows, all come into play. There are some seasons where it is every other day but usually every 2 weeks. I ask my Sellers to let me know if anything out of the ordinary happens and I also have friends who will let me know if they're passing by. Sometimes it takes a Village :)

I check every week or so, depending on how close it is to my house or office. Joan has a good idea to let other agents know when their sign is down.
