Management tends to turn a blind eye to their top producers and don't want to rock the boat. I think they just hope the situation will go away.

I almost did! This particular agent lied, has no integrity but was the number one REO Agent in our entire county. The Franchise catered to him because his numbers ranked them high in stats.

I have to agree with Cindy Davis ... it would take alot to make me feel I had to move on and since I have always been self-motivated and self-disciplined in my careers I would just do my job and be who I am and stay out of the office politics. It's just another distraction and I work very hard and stopping unneeded distractions from stopping me get my job done. But I am friendly and caring and professional at all times. A Soft Word turns away wrath. And if the other person dislikes me for whatever reason, maybe they will leave and do everyone a favor. In my 40+ years of working I've never had a conflict with a party in my office that I could not get under control. So this would certainly be a challenge.

It's hard to answer this in the abstract. For me, it would depend upon JUST HOW MUCH I DISLIKED the agent and whether I could successfully avoid the person. Would I move because of one person?...I would probably not do so without trying everything else in my power...One of the many things I've learned for myself is that I like working independently...it frees me up from office politics, conflicts, etc.

No..,,that is always a possibility with any brokerage...you can't love everyone all the time.

Debbie,
It is true that management turns a blind eye when it comes to top producers. I would first figure out if there is a way to work it out with that person. If not, I would happily ignore the individual without creating office politics by having others involved taking sides (that is a toughie), and eventually leave. A

I think it opens the door to thinking out of the box of being just in that brokerage. I had that happen although not a full confrontation. I was a busy real estate agent and was put in an office with another agent. she kept turning me in for talking on the phone. The last time the manager came to talk with me about it, I said oh noooo not again. I can't work like this. We all know that you have to be able to be on the phone in Real Estate. They wanted me to step out or go outside which that would not of worked at all, I would of been outside all the time. I moved my office home where I could conduct business, that then opened the door to looking at another brokerage and their commission structure.

No matter where you go Debbie Reynolds there's a cost to doing business. If my tolerance level was exceeded I would move on. Like Dorothy Gale says, "My! People come and go so quickly here!"

No, Debbie, I wouldn't. I'm almost never in the office so the conflict would not be in my face very much. I have left my firm because I was unhappy with management changes, but three years later I was back.

I would not consider leaving for that reason. We are independent contrcators nad do not have to deal with the one person .

No, and Negative agents are not encouraged within our organization. The problem would be resolved, or they would be asked to leave. I also like Diana Dahlberg's answer "A soft word turns away wrath"...

Debbie and Evelyn, I read your comments.
Seems, such agents come across at any stages of our business life....
Debbie,
do talk to that agent, very kindly. If you want to stay there, ignoring an issue, will not help.
''Keep your friends close and your enemies closer''~ this is the only way to go:)

I did. But in my situation, I was a new agent and she was there much longer......and she was a friend with a manager......I kind of had no choice and became too emotional.
Looking back, I think, I could easily fix it.
Don't take it personally. You are a wise and powerful woman.

Hits very close to home Debbie. I believe I would if coming to work everyday was dreaded. We / I chose Real Estate partially to have freedom, and enjoy my career. If that becomes an issue time to rethink where I am. Mark

Debbie Reynolds depends who the person is. If someone you'll have to come across frequently, discuss the issues and if not resolved, talk to the management to find out amicable solution. And if nothing works, you be the boss!
If the person is not so significant, not to worry at all! Why should you leave?

No way, I am not going to give on to a looser. If someone bothers me I ignore them. Sticks and stones can break my bones but names can never hurt me Debbie.

In a really large office it probably would not matter. You could avoid the agent. I a medium to small office it is hard to do.
2,224,473
That is a difficult question. It would really depend. My office is so small, that a serious conflict would probably make me leave, but it would take a lot to get me to that point. I might also consider a work at home option.

No, we have a lot of agents and I we don't run into each other that often.
