I can tell you we don't get much snow here but when we do the town shuts down. We don't know how to handle it so it negatively affects showings but the phone calls and views online are off the charts.

It is both a positive and a negative for lenders - positive because we can reach people at home via phone, negative because fewer purchase contracts come in because less people are out looking. It's never really been a huge deal, though.

I can use an example like this, in December and teh 1st 2 weeks of January it was spring like, sales were the best ever for this time of year in 29 years. The last 2 weeks of storm after storm seem to slow down showings during the storm, but calls and emails increase. When the roads clear, it is back to showing and writing offers.

For real estate and my business, it generally DELAYS things. It impacts a lot of consumable businesses (e.g. restaurants, movie theaters) much more. But most people, if they intend to buy/sell, still will...they'll just wait a bit longer.
Last year was the worst year I can remember, and it did hurt a bit as some of my customers (who are in sales) were impacted, so then they didn't have as much money in the spring/summer as they would have thought. Last year, things were delayed 6-8 weeks...we still had snow on the ground in April.
Let's hope it's not as bad this year.

Snow effects my bare land sales because it is hard to get out in the woods and look around.

I thing the snow and the cold temps combined slow us down. Although this winter has been busier than usual.

We know how to deal with it....and impassable roads never last long...and serious sellers attract serious buyers and we find it a very busy time in the Badger state of Wisconsin.
