Hi Julie, I've worked with hundreds of clients over the phone and internet - I definitely understand that some people just want to go online and find the info themselves. I have always referred clients with credit issues to www.myfico.com - they do offer paid services, but they have a TON of information regarding what goes into their scores, myths vs. facts of reprecussions of pulling credit, etc.
Hope this helps!

I'll first say that I ALWAYS try to get people to use a credit repair service- when they go it alone, they do it 'when they have time' and it takes forever. When they pay someone to help, they move along much quicker & it benefits them in the end.
That being said, creditinfocenter.com is an incredible place to learn everything and anything about credit, including credit repair - there are templates and step by step instructions for nearly any scenario, all at no cost

I suggest people check out the information and advice on the Federal Trade Commission website, http://www.consumer.ftc.gov/, and the CFPB (Consumer Financial Protection Bureau) website, http://www.consumerfinance.gov.
Here's an FTC article about repairing your credit:
http://www.consumer.ftc.gov/articles/0058-credit-repair-how-help-yourself
And one from the CFPB on getting and maintaining a good credit score:
http://www.consumerfinance.gov/askcfpb/318/how-do-i-get-and-keep-a-good-credit-score.html
I hope these are helpful!

I will connect them with the credit repair specialist - or even a lender can help.

- Hi Evelyn, I always offer clients contact info for a few local professions they can call or meet. People often ask for a something they can also read and explore online.
- Good info, Beth. Thank you! :)

Gee Julie, I would much rather find a local loan officer that knows what they are doing than refer them to someone they can't look in the eye.
