Epson WF 4630 - It's color toner, fast, wi-fi (also works with phone/ipad) handles letter and legal at the same time. Pretty impressive for the price. I got mine on sale at Office Max recently.

the term 'best' is hard to relate to. I've been using HP printers for a decade. When I splurged and went for a more expensive printer, it didn't last any longer than the $100 ones sold at coscto.

Paige Walker , along with other online advice, I followed you and purchased a Epson WF 2650 from Best Buy for $83 including tax.  The 4630 was more than I needed.  I read that the cost of the Epson ink is a lot less.  Didn't like HP4635, it seemed to 'eat up' ink and often paper would stick, unlike previous HP inkjets/office jets - had it for 2 years and one week after warranty expiration, a thin paper got rolled up inside.  I went online to figure how to take it apart and I could not remove it and HP said I needed to send it in for servicing, therefore better to buy new than to service it.   I also Like my Brother Lazerjet.  No problems there.

We use HP.  For a couple hundred dollrs they work well and last long enough until the technology goes to the next level.  Kind of like phones.

There's no easy answer to this, as it will depend on the volume you need to print as well as what quality of printing you are looking for.  For many, having two or more specialized printers is a good way to go.

I have to agree with Paige.  If I could run over my HP printer with my truck, I would.  But, the Epson is sweet.

Sybil Campbell and Gita Bantwal I have had quite a few HP's.  Had OfficeJet 7310, but size was too big and bulky for me.  Then got a HP Envy 4635, 5 days after the 2yr warranty ended, paper kept getting stuck until I can't get it out of the rollers.  Most recent a Brother Laser printer but no one tells you that it uses more electricity than most.  After researching, I will go today and purchase an Epson WorkForce WF-2630, little bit lower than Paige Walker WF-4630.  Also heard Epson WorkForce recommended by Kim Kommando.

I've been through a ton of printers over the years. I purchased a Lexmark C540dw at least five years ago and have not had any issues. Great customer service from them as well.

I'm do glad you asked this question as I'm in the market for a new printer too.  I'm glad to know that the Brother that Praful mentioned uses ink that's not real expensive.

I love my Brother MJC 4710DN   duplex network and prints 11x17 easily! Plus ink does not cost much.

I do have couple of color laser printers from HP and OKI, too.
