I also think seller should have had attorney involved from the start of the process. If he's able to leave, usually DMV will issue a picture id.

Evelyn, in the past, I've been taught that an expired ID is not considered a valid form of verification. The seller did have an expired license. They were very good at keeping their documents together. When we had the closing yesterday (which went smoothly), she even had her original social security card from before she got married. WOW!

I haven't had this problem before. It seems strange they wouldn't even have an expired drivers license...

The attorneys have said that in this case, they will accept a social security card or medicare card. This is the first time I've ever come across someone who didn't have any sort of picture ID!

The attorneys should guide you on how to get the ID of senior person. (Passport and SS# with card should be some options.)

I suggest that you get options from your closing attorney. If they have a passport, I have heard that they are legit even if expired.
