Always have them follow me.   Once I did put their car seat into the back seat and they threw up all the milk, and my car smelled AWFUL for a week.   That was the last time.....

Children or no children I ask them to follow in their own car. If they are willing to use their own gas they are more serious buyers

I always have them drive their own car so the kids have their car seats and buckled in appropriately. In fact I can't think of a time when a parent had even asked if they could bring their kids in my car, seat and all.

As a father of young children, I always ask similar families to drive themselves. I do not have all the necesary child car seats and other restraints in my car necessarily...

Debbie... typically when my clients have small children, they insist on following me. I don't even have to raise the issue. Sometimes they want me to ride with them, but I prefer to be followed in those situations.

I don't have the child car seats so this is a good reason why customers will need to follow me.  Ever since I had a kid climb all over the backseat and the console to get to his mother while I was driving, I will no longer have kids in my car.

Suggest they ride in their own car. Small children are a huge responsibility and they need their own car seats. Once I had a client who had a horrible back injury and was in extended care. He wanted me to list his condo. Upon going and seeing him he asked me to take him to the building to sort through books. I said he should have a family member do it because I thought it could be a liability if he got hurt. The children question is similar. I got fired and did not care.  I later asked a family member who is a lawyer and he said I made the right decision

Debbie

With car seats for kids, I think they should take their own car.

Anymore, I encourage my clients to take their own car, eliminating your dilemma.

Separate cars gives clients time alone to discuss different properties and formulate the really important questions they want to ask.

This works really well for me.

Children or not, I always ask them to follow me.  Only exceptions are friends and relatives.  There is too much liability and safety issues when it comes to having strangers ride in your car.

if they are the size and age they need to be in a car seat they can follow me.  If they are large/old enough to ride with just a seat belt (legally) in my back seat I don't mind.  But I'm not sure I'd ever put a car seat in my car for a client's little one.

I would have them take their own car as the childrens' seats and toys are probably installed and would make them feel more at ease.

They usually assume they will follow, especially if they have car seats.  If asked, I suggest they follow me.

Make them take their own car, particularly if they are young enough to require a booster or car seat.

Parents with smaller kids prefer to follow me during showing few houses. Usually, we don't got to more than 3 properties/day.

I suggest they follow me. Actually it is more common around here for buyers to take their own cars. The variable is out of town relocation buyers who may just fly in to buy, then i am also their taxi.

Keeping the children in their routine is good so riding with their toys and TVs makes for happy families. I am for all happy families.

It can also be a better solution with adults like Debra and Noah said. Liability extends deep to the real estate agent.

Safety is a big concern and if they are fine riding in their own vehicles, that is my preference too. I like Christina's viewpoint that this gives them time to discuss what is really important. Yes it does.

Nathan, Most of the time they offer as it is more convenient to keep carseats in place than move them. I have also been asked to ride with them.
