John DL Arendsen, I'd say it depends. Apple products are easy and more popular however propriety. Android/Windows on other hand are widely accepted and have easier access to tools etc. Though many smartphone apps come to Apple first.

I love apple products.

you can put windows on a mac... you cannot put mac on windows!

Mac's don't have many viruses and most of their platforms are very stable.

John DL Arendsen the best technoloty is the one you use.  It seams that each platform keeps leap frogging the other as far as what is best since innovation by one company sparks ideas in the next.  Rinse and repeat.

I used an iPad for a few years but have switched mostly over to Android platforms for everything from my phone to my hybrid laptop about 2 years ago.

Tamara Liggins I also use my Iphone hot spot but that drains your battery too fast and when I'm on the road, which I often am, my myfi works anywhere AT&T works and it's an actual internest wifi connection not a cell connection.

John I got rid of the mifi a few years back I actually create a personal hotspot now on my iPhone and the speeds are pretty cool and consistent. I'm in my scale back phase since I hate carrying purses

Tamara Liggins Wow! You've really got it dialed in. I actually just switched to Mac Air from a Mac Pro. My wife insisted that I try it out because it's lighter and doesn't have a DVD slot which with today's streaming tech you really don't need anymore anyway.

Other than that I'm almost cloning you on everything else i.e. IPad, Iphone 6. But because we're on the road a lot either traveling for pleasure or biz I threw in an AT&T "MiFi" which is fantastic if you're in AT&T range which its hard not to be where we go.

Thanks fo stopping by. You really gave me a lot of very good info and reassurance.

I'm all Apple at this time I use a IMac at home, just updated my 2011 MacBook Pro to the lighter 2014 MacBook Pro with Retina when working from the office or while out. I use a iPad Air at times for showing or if doing in person contract signings but I'm scaling back a bit with the iPhone 6 Plus I can now drill down on just carrying my phone for showings. Also it bares to mention that if I do use Windows for programs like eNeighborhood in desktop form I just run Parallels on my Mac which allows me to run a virtual Windows machine without investing in a full out machine and still retain the same functionality.

My employing broker uses a MAC. I'm a windows person. He has limitations because at first our MLS wasn't MAC compatiable. He rides me for using a windows product, but when I upgrade my $600 machine every three years and replace it for something faster and better for another hundred bucks more...he has to scratch his head. He's always amazed at how fast my windows computers are compared to his macs he spends so much on and loves and keeps for years.

I prefer windows. It doesn't cost a lot to upgrade every few years, but watch out for windows 8. Don't upgrade to 8.1 yet.

Helping you achieve goals in life & real estate

I'm a "use the right tool for the job" kind of person. As far as Windows vs. OS X it would be more dependent on the users and what they feel comfortable with. There's likely not much software you use that would favor one over the other and many of the "applications" we use these days are websites that are typically platform agnostic.

As for phones and tablets again it's sort of dependent on the user. If you're providing phones for everyone it will likely be a secondary phone for them. Tablets are a slightly different story. iPads seem to have more apps available for them and are often the platform more apps start on.

Personally I have a Microsoft Surface Pro 3 computer, a Samsung Note 4 phone, and an iPad Air 2 tablet. Windows machines have the form factors and features I prefer, my Note 4 phone is an awesome phone and I really like android, and the iPad primarily becaue of apps and the battery life is far better than android tablets I've tried. I've considered getting a used iPhone because there are some hardware tools that I would like to use that are only made for the iPhone 4/5 but it would not replace my phone for voice. I'm platform agnostic myself because I had a career in IT before getting back into real estate.

When people ask me which computer/platform (Windows or Mac OS X) to purchase my answer is get what others around you are using. They are often going to be your source for software and tech support.

I'm currently using a broad cross section of Apple products and am planning to purchase duplicates of all these products for our management staff for better technical consistancey and overall coordination. Any thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Debbie Laity Good info. I will say, however, that I'm on my 3rd Iphone I4 to I5 to I6 and each upgrade only cost me an extra hundred bucks. I did take a direct hit, however, whence switching from my MacPro to a MacAir.
