I am all for a limit, but, I have to say that I have discovered an unexepected experience with these questions. They are quick, easy to write and answer, and fit into our busy schedules. Kindof like mini-blogging.

I don't think it's any more abused than those robo bloggers that post 10-20 market reports a day for points. Or the robo commenters that are just about getting points.
I'm not sure if there is a way to fix it. Maybe limit the number of questions you can post on a weekly basis? I guess I haven't paid much attention to it to be honest.

It seems as if some are, since I see a full page of questions by the same people, haha. Or, perhaps not everyone has started using this section as much. If there is a cap on points to be awarded through this section, I think it would mitigate abuse.

Praful,
It would appear that since the recent change, people have taken tothe Q&A section to add to their point totals, rather than consider what it will do to their market place reputation.....
time will tell if this is going to have to be addressed by AR, but I would urge agents to think about what it says about themselves when they flood their areas and or topics with silly and or pointless questions.

OH yes, I so agree. I wrote a question about this a little while ago, but you can't even see it as the board is so cluttered. they need to add daily limits and quickly.
Kris Neese It's getting pretty ridiculous.

I am actually enjoying the Q&A..easy to read, easy to answer if I want, easy to ask a question and like Catherine Ulrey kind of like mini-blogging. There will always be someone who finds a way to take advantage of the situation.

Praful: Of course some are abusing the system...if points are involved you can bet some will chase them. It's just my opinion but a better use of time would be to craft a 1,000+ word post that will get seen by consumers for years to come. Besides, after reaching 500K, the points here in the Rain are useless. Yes useless. ;-)

Margaret Rome, Baltimore Maryland - yes, Q&A section is short and sweet. However, if people start abusing it, we need to monitor. Someone posted many one line questions (easily one could make out that the poster was not looking for answers - it was only for points!)

Anita Clark you are right - points have no 'cost' after 500,000 - however, it does have a value! Somehow, I feel bad that people think of the loopholes in the system rather than working with the beautiful features offered by ActiveRain.

"Specially, when there is not a single answer to many questions asked"....????
Why would there be a single answer to a variety of questions that seek a different level of inquiry ?
Doesn't make sense.

David Saks - to an extent, the re-blogging is limited to only 10 posts for points and it's a good idea to re-blog good posts. In fact, one of the re-blogged post from a member helped save her home from a foreclosure!
Asking a question that is obvious - on the other hand - is for sure, only for points. Specially, when there is not a single answer to many questions asked!

When points are involved, you will see clutter. It is the same for many of the meaningless comments that we receive on blogs when it is obvious that the member making comments has not even read the blog.
More good reasons to trash the current points system.

I also noticed that some members abuse the reblogging option for points.
Isn't that odd ?
Capitalizing on a daily basis, of the hard work of others, is kind of phony isn't it, just to rack up the numbers reblogging hundreds of posts ?
It's sort of a kind of soft plagiarism, isn't it ?
Sort of like hijacking someone else's work for a few points and reaping the rewards of their work ?

Limit is the answer from my point of view.
I tend to gravitate toward Q&A because it is short, quick and it answers and informs me on a lot of topics that I personally have an interest on, instead of blogs which is geared more toward the public.
Just give the AR crew time and everything will work out in the end. Hey...isn't that how our business is based upon...patience and in due time it will materialize? So folks...take a breather and let the techs do what they are paid to do.

Mike Belobradic - the intent of this segment is to be more involved and get quick answers to some questions that bother some of us sometimes. However it is linked with the points now!
