I am a foreigner, born in the heart of Europe, Czech Republic. I lived under communist regime and actively participate in bringing it down (tough job). In 1991 I came to study in U.S. and while I was laboring on my masters degree I fell for this gorgeous Californian girl. I tried to lure her to move with me oversees but she didn’t budge. So I left everything behind and followed her to Los Angeles (not as easy as it may seem, but hey, you have make some sacrifices in order to get what you want, right?). After little bouncing around we settled in beautiful Woodland Hills area. Living under an oppressive regime taught me few valuable lessons that I strive to live by: 1. Freedom is something I have to fight for every minute of my life. Whoever understands the meaning of the word knows what I am talking about. And no, it ain’t about money. 2. What I do speaks louder than what I say. Too many words out there become just empty sounds. Words don’t mean anything unless manifested in action. 3. Friendship (or any relationship) is not a one-way street. It is something I have to nurture/work (yes, I mean work) on every day to mutually benefit each other. 4. Don’t live a lie. Be true to yourself and to others. Tell it like it is. Don’t try to convince anybody that there is only one side of a coin. 5. Life is short. Do what you love and not what you’ve been expected or told to do. I could list a few more but I think these five are the most important. At least to me. My wife would probably list different rules that I need to live by just as would my mother, son, coworker, etc.… but that would not be me anymore, would it? Anyway, enough words. Let’s have a cup of tea (or whatever you drink) and talk business.

I take your hard-earned money and run for the borders (just kidding, of course). With a smile, my 12 year old son commented on this: “But dad, wouldn’t that give a bad image of you and the financial industry?” I thought, “Well, is it possible to inflict more damage on this battered industry’s image?” Many “advisers” out there claim expertise in the jungle of finances. It is not easy (but not impossible) to achieve positive results in managing our financial affairs. The main obstacle out there is “we”. We are “risk averse” or better say, “loss averse”. When things go bad we try to improve them and quite often take the worst possible option. I have been in financial services for little over 10 years, learning every day and still far from calling myself an expert. I feel more like a coach. When good decisions seem to go against you and you are ready to bail out, you need someone whom you trust to tell you things as they are. Giving you not only the options you have but also the possible consequences for every move you make. I start every relationship by listening to what your needs, dreams, and goals are. I look for clues to determine whether we are the right fit and will work greatly together as a team. I am open to your every suggestion and concern but expect that once the decision is made and we start the journey together you will not second-guess my skills. There are many “experts” out there that may steer you away from your destination. However, believe that I will be your captain who will keep the ship on the course, your counselor to calm you during the storm, and your friend to celebrate with once we reach the destination. I am in it for a long haul. I am informed, committed, and loyal. And I expect no less from my clients.

Everything you do involves risk. Nothing is fail-proof. Ignore the risks and pay consequences. Learn to manage risks and you may minimize the risks’ consequences. Life is all about risk mitigation.
