Get to Know Theresa Berenger

I began my first career as a registered nurse for over 30 years.  During that time I was always in a leadership position.  I chose one of the most challenging areas to specialize in and that was critical care and emergency room nursing.  I decided I needed a change and was encouraged to get my license by my younger sister who was already in the business.  I started my career in real estate in 1988 and was very successful so I decided to devote myself to it full time.  Within the first five years I achieved my goals and decided to open my own real estate office.  I kept these offices until 2007 when I decided to merge my company with Keller-Williams Realty in Simi Valley, CA.  I needed to make a change and it was an excellent decision.  I believe in improving your skills in any field of specialization so I have earned the following designations:Accredited Buyers Representative (ABR), Certified Residential Specialist (CRS), e-PRO, Graduate of Realty Institute (GRI), Performance Management Network (PMN), Senior Real Estate Specialist (SRES).  These have helped me hone my skills to make me better in my profession.  I am also very involved in both community as well as my own professional local association and also with the Women's Council of Realtors, both in the local chapter and at the State level.  I am also the Education Chair for the Simi Valley/Moorpark Association of Realtors and served as the Association President in 1997.  I believe in keeping my skills at the very best that they can be and this can only be achieved through personal experience and continuing education.  I have also been involved with my community serving on neighborhood councils and participating in many fundraising events for our schools, police force and local charities.

Certifications

I have specialized in the residential arena for 20 years. I work very well with first time home-buyers because I understand their fears and concerns.  I love to teach them about the buying process and show them everything they will be dealing with during their transaction.  I want this to be as pleasant an experience as possible.  I understand that they may have advisers such as parents or friends and I encourage them to come along and see how I work.  I take a lot of time explaining things to my clients as I want them to be fully informed before making any decision.  I am very patient and listen to their concerns.  I only show them properties that are within the parameters I have been given by them and by the lender.  Anything I show them they could buy if they like it.  I understand how valuable their time is and I will not waste it.  I review all paperwork with my clients before we ever go out in the car.  If they have any questions we get them answered up front so as not to worry them.  I spend a lot of time with my buyer because when I have them as a client I want them to be a client for life.  I value their business.  I treat them as if they were family.  I respect them and they in turn respect my expertise.  And when the day comes for you to move up to a bigger or better home I am confident you will call me because I have done a great job and I have kept in contact with you continuously while you have lived there.  I also work very well with relocation clients.  I am able to show property electronically and will only send homes that qualify for their guidelines.  I help arrange a pick-up at the airport as well as recommendations for accommodations locally.  When you come to search for the homes you would like to see in person I will have scheduled them out so as not to waste your precious time.  I understand the urgency with which you work and sometimes those time-frames can be very tight. I also specialize in HUD homes be it the sale or purchase or all around knowledge of HUD.
