Hello and thank you for stopping by. My name is Peter Thompson and I've been a mortgage professional since 1992. With over 16 years of experience I have helped well over a thousand families and individuals buy their own homes and take control of their financial future. I've seen a lot of changes in the time I've been in this business - in fact the mortgage industry has come just about full circle. When I first started out FHA was one of the best options for first time home buyers and any one who wanted a loan had to go through a full underwriting process where we verified all their income assets and made sure they were able to afford the new loan payment. Over the years credit scoring became the biggest factor in loan approval, verifications became an option and FHA virtually disappeared here in the Chicago area. Now we are back where we started. Mortgage guidelines have tightened and FHA is one of the best options not just for first time home buyers but for many buyers who could buy with a conventional loan. In this new lending environment, having an experienced loan officer who knows how to structure your transaction can mean the difference between closing on time, and not closing at all.

I know that the mortgage process can be stressful and intimidating. My approach is to stress education and communication.
