Get to Know Midge Koontz

I am a native Ocalan, born here when Silver Springs Blvd was a a two lane road; and range law was still in effect. (That means your cattle could roam free.) Like so many others, I left home as quickly as I could; first to DC, then to Chicago (which is still my favorite town!) but when circumstances changed I was content to come back.

In those years Ocala changed a lot physically - whole subdivisions had appeared in some instances - landmarks were gone; people had moved on. Today, Ocala is a dynamic small city. Natives affectionately call it Slo-cala and it can appear that way. But, if you dig just a little beneath the surface you'll find a lot going on.

My past professional history is a jumble; started in print advertising in Race Horse publications after college. Became the Ad Director for the Midwestern edition of Daily Racing Form in Chicago, IL, then started my own print publication. When DRF was sold for the third time moved back to Florida.  After I returned to Florida, I stopped publication of my magazine and became a Realtor. After 18 months I shifted from sales into lower management, running the referral department for a local company. After eight years, I changed companies and moved into marketing and website development, learning on the job.

Then, life shifted again and I went back into sales full time. I enjoy so many aspects of Real Estate - meeting new people, researching properties, working to find a way to make a sale come together and the satisfaction of hearing a past customer say a year or two later. "I really love this place. Thank you for helping us put this together."

Certifications

My focus these days is working with buyers. After 15 years in the Real Estate business, in different facets, which prepared me to look at the "big picture: Now, I'm dedicated to helping my buyers understand the purchase process, so they become an informed participant. There's so much information out there, some good, some not so good that I truly believe buyers need someone to help them wade through it all. Whether I'm helping first time home buyers face the challenge of their first home or working with a professional finding just the right property to expand their business. I enjoy putting the puzzle of the right buyer and the right property together.
