Get to Know Michael Clark

I was born and raised right here in the South Bay, been here ALL my life except for my military days when I was sent to Viet Nam. Proud to have served and I support our troops today while not pushing the fact that it is right or wrong.  

I started my real estate career in 1972 and realized that I made the perfect choice. I have loved this business from the start and it has always been my main passion. I took every real estate related course that El Camino College (our local junior college) had to offer back in the ‘70's and a lot of their business related classes as well. Like most Realtors, I started out with the basic "Single Family Home" sales. Income property caught my eye as I helped a few clients with duplex, triplex and Quad (4 units) sales. I quickly learned the tax deferred exchange (IRS 1031) process and have specialized in that area and can guide my clients successfully through that transaction.  

I pride myself with the fact that I have earned a large amount of REPEAT business from my past customers who keep coming back, what an honor THAT is! Obviously that is an honor that I will never betray. I have just added another one of the BEST reasons for my clients to keep using my services, and that would be the fact that I have become a loan broker and can offer my customers wholesale pricing on all of their loans, whether a Re-Fi OR a purchase loan. Let me quickly explain why this is such a HUGE benefit to my customer. A mortgage broker gets paid a commission based on the interest rate the borrower pays. The higher the interest, the more the commission is. I had been referring my customers to my favorite mortgage broker for over 30 years, then I decided that if I started doing this myself, I could reduce the commission which reduces the interest rate the borrower pays. I will make my main income on the sale of the property instead of the loan, providing a "Win - Win" scenario for both of us!

There is SO much competition in real estate these days. I know you can go anywhere you want and get anyone else to represent you. I respect and realize that and hope I have OR will earn your future business. It is said that 80% of the business in Real Estate is done by 20% of the licensed agents. That means that 80% of the people are NOT making a living at this business and generally fall out of the business. I quickly realized that if I was to stay in this business I needed to become an expert at it. I must have done something right, as I'm still here after 35 plus years in the business. I think the main reason why is that (got to do a little bragging here) I am an excellent negotiator and will get you the Best deal possible. Additionally, I quickly picked up on how to analyze a good property from a bad one, what it might take to make it a "Good Property" pass on that information, and answer ALL questions, concerns and point out possible pitfalls or future problem areas. Additionally, it is so important to be able to present the comparable sales similar to the property of interest and quickly determine what a fair price to buy or sell at is. This applies to single family houses OR income property. With regard to income property, it is important to understand the income & expenses, and be able to compare them to other similar properties OR determine how to make any property become a "Good" investment property. I also offer to help my customers with the renting of their available units, and can offer to run the credit of the potential tenants. I do this at NO charge to my clients.
