My husband and I were recently honored by our 3 children with the title "Greatest, Most Awesome Parents EVER!" I finally felt like my kids recognized all we had done for them , what a WIN! After basking in the glow of appreciation for about 5 minutes, we noticed the kids were leaving. WHAT WAS HAPPENING? Surely the party was not ending, our greatness had just been recognized and declared. Shouldn't there be a toast, a present or at least family picture taken?  I vaguely heard," Mom can we leave the dogs at your house? We we're going camping." I suddenly realized what was happening, I begged them to take me with them, (though glam camping or otherwise in NOT my thing.) Then the grown up devils said, "Mom this is a fun weekend. Not really a "take your mom and dad" type of weekend. But we'll for sure go another time with you and dad. Love you! You two really are the greatest!"  Those bastards had played us like a fiddle! We were given very specific instructions for the weekend. My daughters 70lb bulldog was recovering from a broken leg and required pain medication every 4 hours and every 3 hours she would need to be carried outside to do her business. My son left us with a beautuful but very needy 60lb Goldendoodle who had no idea he was a dog. He cried when we told himto get off the couch and he constantly guilt tripped us for treats. Such a manipulator! Just like his dad. Then my eldest and former favorite son left us with 2 adorable pugs, who's little faces were so smashed they sounded like they were gasping for air and dying with every breath or drounding when they drank. We quickly found out there is a big difference between pad traing and house training. The pugs weren't proficient at either. I looked at my husband and he at me, when knew we had been beaten. A shift had just taken place we were in the unknow. We weren'tGenX'er's we weren't BabyBoomers,  or even empty nesters... we were a new and untitled class of society. We were people who had grandpuppies instead of grandbabies. What was this place? Are there more of us? Are we the only ones? Do we dare tell anyone? I decided I needed to live someone else's life at this moment, So I grabbed my husband, Manolo Blahnik's, my keypad, my phone and went looking for vacant houses. I was hoping to find a quaint, a cozy cottage hidden away in nature or maybe a condo with very strict HOA's.
