Get to Know Larissa Rubijevsky

When I was five, my mother took me to a small Ice Rink in Moscow, put me into "twenty-second" hand figure skates and said, “Here you come honey, it’s your life.” I took a step and I fell…and cried…and got up…and fell again…and got up...and have been doing it since… Being born in Russia is already a great challenge. Being born poor in Russia makes it almost a disaster. Since I was little I knew I would've needed either to work extremely hard to survive or to end up in misery. During all those years of figure skating career, I've trained myself to be focused and disciplined. Gosh, doesn’t it make it easier later on... When my husband and I came to America in 1994 we could not believe all the opportunities that are open to people here. Just make an effort, make a choice, stay focused, be consistent and the world is yours! I'm thankful for each and every day...
