I realized I was becoming burned out after 23 yrs of working as a RN but I also knew that I still needed to be able to provide a form of quality care and personal service. Becoming a Realtor has provided that outlet. I use many of the same skills that I learned as a RN--interviewing, listening, patience, and keeping accurate records-- to be able to give those I work with the best that I can.
I have been married for 20 years and have two girls, ages 12 and 14. I live in a log house in the country, and enjoy reading , sewing/quilting (great Quilt Shop in town!) and cooking. I prefer being outside either hiking with or without my dogs, walking/running,gardening (flower and vegetable) as well as horseback riding when I can.
I am an optimist--something good is always possible. The glass is not half empty or half full--it is totally full: half water, half air. Its all in how you choose to look at a situation as to whether someting is a problem or a concern to be dealt with.
I love working with first time homebuyers--many are overwhelmed by the whole process , and I get to use another of my skills--education/teaching--to keep things in perspective and help guide them on the journey of getting their first home. One of the most frequent comments I get from my clients,past and present, is how patient and understanding I am. One of my goals is to make each transaction (buying or selling) one that has less anxiety and pressure and more joy and anticipation. I never want my homeowner to regret a purchase.
When I work with a Homeowner/ seller, I make it a team approach. I try to give them as much control as I can while still being able to apply my knowledge of internet marketing, personal contacts and local advirtising to bring about a satisfying outcome by getting their house sold as quickly as I can.
I also get to use one of my previously hidden talents-research. Alot of my work is behind the scenes; making sure facts are accurate, all building permits are closed and C of Os are in place for renovations. Getting all the information together for lawyers and finance people helps keep it smooth sailing to get us from offer to closing with as little fuss as possible.
Former RN (well almost former) that decided family life is more important. Being a Realtor has allowed me to focus on providing an alternate kind of personal service and care.
