I have worked in the real estate business since 2001 and what I find amazing is just how many people claim to be Realtors and just how few can actually do the job. Just about everyone one has another job to supplement their income. As for why we ought to trust these nice people with one of the most important decisions of our lives you get the usual well trodded "Hire me, I'm awesome" rubbish.

This is my full time job, nothing more or less and I have been doing it for years. If you want to know if I am any good go ask other people because frankly I may be a little biased and so are we all. Google is a good place to start. After each successful transaction I encourage people to share their experiences so other people can see for themselves. Most put it in writing but a few record videos. Good or bad I stand by the results
