I have been a Realtor for 4 years, In this time I've helped  Families that Live in Apartments and Duplexes Buy their very First Home in some cases paying less or the same as if Renting. Many of Buyers felt that they would not be able to buy a Home because "Of their Income" with that being said the homes are relative to what they make, the Homes have been in the of 70K-156K   I do admitted that it's not easy finding homes in this range but if you work at it you will find them. It's a very exciting time for my Buyers once we are out previewing homes their faces light up each time we walk into the homes the feeling is unparaleled that this is actually taking place.  I believe that one of the reasons this became my "Niche" is because I speak Spanish, and treated my Buyer's with the same respect as a 300K plus buyer. I do admit it's not easy Holding their hands throughout the buying process, but once were at the closing ,and they get the Keys to very first home it was all very much worth it. 

I can tell you story"s of some of the Apartments and Duplex's some of the Buyers lived in but I wont,  All It did was give me more determination to help.
