Get to Know Donna Cabana
The buying and selling of real property is about life changes. I have a background in human services. I work for many years with people with disabilities as a job coach and job developer. After ten years of manageing my own personnal rental properties, I went to work for a fairly large non-profit housing agency. For the past seven years I have counseled homeowners and buyers. I mainly worked with homeowners and property owners providing post purchase counseling. All of my customers were going through changes in their lives and need someone to validate their concerns and help understand and cope with the changes that needed to be made. Whether it was finally following through on the notice to quit, being court ordered to abate lead paint, selling the home they could no longer afford to avoid foreclosure, a reverse mortgage or dealing with a major construction project for the very first time, all my customers were facing major life change. Selling houses is about helping people, families make changes in their lives. They need someone compasionate and understanding to help with this major life changing desicion.
I have been a licenced real estate agent for nearly five years and have worked part time in sales for a small local company. I work as a consultant to a local community development corporation as a first-time buyer counselor and educator, providing educational classes to first time home buyers. I'm a member of the local, state and National Association of REALTORS. My position as housing counselor has limitted my ability as a sales person due to the code of ethics and conflicts of interest that I take very seriously. My experience with working with homeowners facing foreclousure have really made me want to make a difference in the industry. Its my responsibility to make sure you are getting the best deal going, on the house and the mortgage. I'm willing to review credit reports and work with you to get a great loan. I really felt I could help more people doing real estate full time. I have givin my notice as post purchase counselor and I'm devoting my time to my home buyers and sellers. My last day will be June 7, 2007. I will be staying on part-time for a few more weeks while they find my replacement.

Okay.... This is it! I'm the newest full time agent in my company dispite working there for the past 4 plus years. People keep asking me why am I going full time in this business in a down turn market. I say why not? I'm good at what I do. I'm a Jane of all trades and master of none. I'm here to learn all I can about real estate. I enjoy helping people and want to make a positive impact on their lives. I have experience in many areas of real estate including foreclosure, lead paint, lending, credit, refinancing, public financing agencys, first time buyer programs, landlord tenant relations and para legal work. I ran a lead abatment program and worked with contractors, inspectors and funding sources. I have been through a HUD audit among others. I tracted mortgages on a state finance agency delinquence list and assisted homeowners with loan workouts. I had to tell folks to sell because they didnt have the affordability to stay in the home. I reviewed loans and counseled owners doing cash out refinancing. I reviewed payoffs and subordinations of public loans and grants. I have asked tuff questions. I have done a lot of research to help people. I have given lots of referalls to programs that help people. I have heard it all and seen thing that you would not belive. People have liked what I had to say and some were hurt by the reality. I've learned, I've laughed and I've cried. I have made mistakes. I'm human. So here I am ready for change, ready for a new adventure!
