Dennis Curtis was born in Safford and grew up in Thatcher. He graduated from Thatcher High School and Eastern Arizona College and then attended Brigham Young University. As a youth he was the recipient of the Eagle Scout and Duty to God awards. He has been active in the Scouting program most of his life. Several positions in which he has served are Scout Master, Varsity Scout Coach, Venture Leader, Pack Committee Chairman, Scout Committee Chairman and Varsity Scout Committee Chairman. In the Coronado District he served on the Key 8 Committee as Varsity Scout District Commissioner. Other awards he received as an adult are: On My Honor, Coaches Key, and District Award of Merit. The Silver Beaver award was presented to him in 2002. He started the “On Target” and Varsity Scout Rendezvous programs in our area. Hobbies include Dutch oven cooking, archery, camping, fishing, model trains and spending time with his grandchildren. For approximately twenty-five years he farmed. During that time he served on the Farm Service Agency Board and was Board member and President of the Highline Canal Board. Many young men benefited from the experience of working on the farm with Dennis. For approximately five years he worked at Phelps Dodge Morenci as a haul truck driver and dozer operator. He got his real estate license in 2005. He attained Short Sale & Foreclosure Resource certification in 2009. This is a good profession for him as he enjoys getting to know people and helping them.

| Hi Dennis: I just had to send you a note of thanks for taking the time to speak with me about the Thatcher real estate market for my recent appraisal in the area. I spoke to at least half-a-dozen brokers/agents in the area but found my discussion with you to be the most insightful. I'm sure it's due to fact that you grew up in this immediate area and that you have many years of work experience in the Thatcher/Safford area as a real estate agent. I also liked how you owned a farm in the area for many years so you also understand the agricultural impacts on the market from an owners perspective. I was very impressed that you not only returned my call, but that you spent a good part of an hour discussing the market with me, including going into great depth and detail about the market and the mining influences in the area. You also had great knowledge of water tables in the area and drilling well prospects, which took my appraisal in a different direction that helped me immensely. I verified your knowledge of well drilling with several well drilling contractors in the Thatcher/Safford area and they all confirmed your conclusions. I've been appraising in Arizona for over 25 years and I often find that when I talk to real estate agents, they tend to sugar-coat the market since they are always looking for that next sale. You sir, did not do this. You were straightforward and honest with me, which I find commendable. I hope our paths cross again in the near future and I would strongly recommend you to anyone who is looking for a real estate agent with high integrity and concern for others. |
