Get to Know Jim Peek

A perennial top producer, Jim’s success as a highly sought-after listing agent and a trusted adviser to home buyers can be attributed to both his ability to listen acutely and to help buyers and sellers “connect the dots” to achieve their goals.

Jim is described by his peers as “honest,” “pragmatic” and “hard-working.” He is known on the Island for staying current on market trends as well as changes in industry rules and regulations. Each month he spends hours carefully culling through local home sales data from multiple sources and then issues his comprehensive “Bainbridge Island Real Estate Trends and Inventory” report that fully breaks down the home sales activity on Bainbridge. Armed with the best facts and data, Jim is a skilled negotiator for home buyers and sellers.

Jim also is an aggressive marketer, effectively leveraging both online and traditional media to maximize a seller’s visibility, as well as effectively utilizing personal technology to make sure he stays on top of each transaction, remaining available and responsive to both his buyers and his sellers.

Throughout his business career, Jim has been known for ability to carefully plan and to successfully execute on that plan. For more than a decade he worked in the steamship industry, ultimately filling 330 ocean-going container spaces being shipped from Seattle to Asia.  At Weyerhaeuser, he spent eight years averaging over $120 million in annual wood pulp sales to Asian markets, which included more than 50 trips overseas.  As president of Homestead Fiber, he spent seven years as a worldwide paper trader before becoming a real estate agent on Bainbridge Island in 2003.

Jim draws on the same skill set he learned in both the business world and in the classroom as a business administration graduate from the University of Washington that he uses as a professional Realtor. Highly organized, he believes that the key to a successful real estate transaction is deep market knowledge and excellent communication with all parties.  Jim makes a strong personal commitment to keep his customers well informed throughout every stage of a home sale or purchase. Because personal integrity guides his decisions, he firmly believes in doing the right thing.

A lifelong outdoorsman who spent his college summers working for the U.S. Forest Service, Jim is an avid hiker who also believes in giving back to the community. He turned his love for classic cars into a summer “Cruise-In” to benefit local social services nonprofit Helpline House for its Project Backpack, an effort he has supported for a dozen years. Jim also is renowned for his involvement with the Boy Scouts of America as a Patrol Advisor. At Sakai Intermediate School, 5th graders will remember him for his classroom visits where he tells a personal story of excelling with ADD and dyslexia.

Jim was featured as a “5-Star Real Estate Agent” in Seattle Magazine, selected as “Best in Client Satisfaction” for five straight years, based on a survey of recent home buyers.  He also received a District Award of Merit from the Boy Scouts of America in 2005. Born in Hilo, Hawaii, he moved to the Seattle area shortly afterwards and has lived in the Northwest ever since.
